1980's

The early 1980’s saw the end of the structural constructions that had architectural references to inside and outside. The understanding of these linear constructions with their dense fields changed depending on the viewing position of the viewer. The constructions moved from being closed to open.

The spring of 1987 began a body of work that made use of images from everyday life to construct short narratives. As the late 1980’s evolved there was an interest in portrait sculpture not from a perceptual point of view but rather from a conceptual point of view. The work that followed made use of symbols and metaphors to complete the narrative. What followed was a large body of work titled, “Portrait of the Artist”.
