2000 began with the conclusion of the series dealing with anger and rage as a narrative. The interest in the conceptual approach to portraits was continued with the “Billie” series that saw a basic composition repeated over nine, 4’h X 4’w panels. The “Billie” series was developed using a variety of approaches to bring the composition to a conclusion. The surfaces of each panel relied on several processes to create a new way of seeing Billie’s portrait.
The “Billie” series flowed into the “Icarus” series in which the narrative was about taking risks in life. The title came from the ancient greek myth of Icarus, This series re-introduced symbols and metaphors in the formation of the narrative in both freestanding and wall dependent sculptures. The portrait representing Icarus is a stylized image with bold facial features.
