1970's

The 1970’s was a period in which the emphasis was on coloured linear constructions and on the investigation of flat planes to define space and movement. The use of colour was abandoned in 1976 for a truth to materials dictum. The planar sculptures of 1977 were constructed out of rusted steel. By 1979 there was a return to linear constructions in which the table as image/ as structure was the starting point that formed the “Table as Image / as Structure” series.

The 1970’s invited the viewer to interact with the sculptures by walking around and in the work to fully comprehend the sculpture.
